El Rey Charlie: who he is and what is documented in Puerto Rico

Published by: Puerto Rico Racing · 7 Oct 2026

El Rey Charlie is the name used for Misael González Trinidad, a motorcyclist, content creator, activist, and organizer of motorcycle and off-road vehicle caravans. In Puerto Rico’s motorcycle and four track community, his name comes up often, and not always for the same reasons.

This article uses only what the press has documented, as of October 4, 2026. If a fact does not appear in a published source, we leave it out or say so plainly: it is not confirmed.

Who he is

His public name is Misael González Trinidad. He is known as El Rey Charlie or, simply, Rey Charlie. Metro and El Nuevo Día describe him as a motorcyclist, content creator, activist, and organizer of motorcycle and off-road caravans.

One point that matters for the community: he is not a promoter of parking-lot car meets. What he does, according to the press, is runs and caravans on the road.

Age: 37 as of June 14, 2026, according to Metro and Primera Hora.
Roots: a December 29, 2019 profile in El Post Antillano mentions family roots in Trujillo Alto.
Current residence: not confirmed. We do not know which town he lives in today.

What he has contributed

His documented contribution has two sides: the motorcycle runs, and the work toward a tablilla for UTVs. Both matter in the community, and both have sparked debate.

The motorcycle runs

Rey Charlie gained visibility in the summer of 2019, when he led motorcycle and four track runs during the protests against then-governor Ricardo Rosselló. An essay published on July 23, 2019 cites his call for a run from Cantera to La Fortaleza.

Later came runs with a cause, such as the Christmas 2020 run to benefit the Alianza de Autismo de Puerto Rico. WAPA also reported a run he led with a call for safety among motorcyclists.

The UTV tablilla

On May 20, 2025, he was with Governor Jenniffer González at the signing of Executive Order 29. According to Telemundo, he was named to the working group on license plates for off-road vehicles.

That work is the basis of what he celebrated on October 1, 2026, which we explain below.

Runs that are documented

This is the list of his runs and events that we found in the press. It is not a complete history. It is what we could verify.

Summer of 2019: motorcycle and four track runs during the protests against Rosselló, including a call for a run from Cantera to La Fortaleza (Metro, Resumen Latinoamericano).
Sunday, January 5, 2020, 9:00 a.m.: Corrida de Navidad, or Corrida Navideña, from the Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez in Bayamón and then along roads in the metro area, to benefit the Alianza de Autismo de Puerto Rico (Telemundo). No attendance figure was published.
Sunday, August 8, 2021: a run he called in Cidra and Santa Isabel ran into the Police on PR-172. The Police issued 1,749 tickets (Primera Hora). That number is tickets, not attendees.
Thursday, May 29, 2025: Jueves de Demencia at Arecibo Motorsport, from 5:00 p.m. It is the last event organized by him that we found documented (TeleOnce, WAPA).

The latest: October 1, 2026

The latest thing El Rey Charlie did was not an event. On Thursday, October 1, 2026, he celebrated a letter from the Departamento de Transportación y Obras Públicas (DTOP) about inspection and the UTV tablilla.

Primera Hora, in its October 2 edition, quotes his message: “Trabajamos en silencio y lo LOGRAMOS!!! Los UTV/CARRITOS podrán ser inspeccionados…” (“We worked in silence and we DID IT!!! The UTVs/CARRITOS will be able to be inspected…”). NotiCel quotes a post on his Facebook account: “Tablilla para los carritos.” (“A license plate for the carritos.”)

What the DTOP clarified

That same day, the DTOP clarified that this does not legalize four tracks. The measure is about UTVs, the so-called carritos, not about every off-road vehicle.

El Nuevo Día reported that questions are coming up about how it will be carried out. If you have a UTV, the recommendation is simple: wait for the official details from the DTOP before assuming you can get a tablilla for it or take it on the road.

What is known: there is a DTOP letter about inspection and a tablilla for UTVs.
What does not change: according to the DTOP, four tracks are not legalized.
What is still missing: the implementation details, according to El Nuevo Día.

Jueves de Demencia (May 29, 2025)

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, Rey Charlie called Jueves de Demencia at Arecibo Motorsport, starting at 5:00 p.m. If you do not know the place, read our guide to Arecibo Motorsports with events and tips.

The Police issued tickets for Ley 22 violations in the area. TeleOnce reported 387 fines. WAPA spoke of nearly 400.

Tickets are not attendance

That figure is fines, not people. A ticket is not the same as one person, and it does not say how many arrived. There is no published attendance figure for that event, so we do not give one.

The same applies to the 1,749 tickets from August 2021 on PR-172. They are tickets, not attendees.

Documented record

On February 27, 2025, according to Telemundo, he was found guilty of disturbing the peace, with a $1,000 penalty, for remarks made with a loudspeaker during Maripily Rivera’s caravan on May 23, 2024, at the puente Dos Hermanos on Ashford. He was found not guilty of obstruction. The article does not say that he organized that caravan.

In June 2026 he was reported missing. He later confirmed himself that he was fine, according to Metro, El Nuevo Día, and Primera Hora.

Upcoming events

As of October 4, 2026, we found no confirmed event that El Rey Charlie is promoting. There is no upcoming date published, and we are not going to invent one.

Note: the ATV, UTV and Motorcycle Show on Sunday, October 11, at Pista Miguelo A. Ruiz in Comerío is not an event of his. If you see it tied to him, that is not correct based on what we have verified.

To see what is confirmed on the Island, check the calendar of racing events in Puerto Rico from September to November 2026 or the Puerto Rico Racing events section.
